Alicia Boswell
Co-Founder
Alicia has been modeling for a total of four years. She did a year and a half of runway in high school and took a break while in college to focus on her school work. Then she picked it back up in the summer of 2007 upon graduating from Tennessee State University with a Bachelor's in Social Work. Since then, she has been involved in multiple fashion shows/hair shows and promotional events. She has also participated in many photoshoots as well. She has shot with and walked the runway for Reco Chapple (of Bravo's The Fashion Show) and also walked the runway for Johnathan Kayne (of Bravo's Project Runway).
In March of 2010, she and her boyfriend, Will Bridges, created the popular video podcast 'The Fashion Mashup'. The original podcast was to inform people of upcoming fashion-related events and keep up with Alicia's modeling career. It evolved to focus more attention on interviews and coverage of the local fashion industry and that evolved into NashvilleFashionEvents.com. The company Fashion Bytes, Inc. was established in early 2011 to provide technology, social media, web development, brand management, marketing, photography and video services to the fashion industry and to produce products for the fashion community. The company's two main products are Nashville Fashion Events and Style Promenade (stylepromenade.com). She now manages Nashville Fashion Events, Style Promenade and the other Fashion Bytes websites as the Vice President of Fashion Bytes, Inc. Alicia is also available for speaking engagements and consultation services, including but not limited to, styling, fashion show coordination, and referrals.

Ravenwood Runway is one of the top highlights of our fashion year, by far. Ever since we discovered this gem 3 years ago, we've continued the tradition of heading out to Brentwood to be amazed by what these young stars are producing.
(2011,2012,2013)
Sabrina Maggart is the fashion design teacher at Ravenwood and I've been told by students that she is a great inspiration to many of them and why they love to design. And boy does it show-her dedication and hard work has produced some very innovative and skilled designers. Let's take a look at a few of my favorite pieces from this year's 5th Annual Ravenwood Runway.
In the first half of the show, the "Sharpest Tulle in the Shed" had one of my favorite pieces. What can I say? I'm a sucker for tulle:) There was a deep purple gown with a tull...

Raw- being in a natural condition; not processed or refined. The natural talents of Nashville's unrefined artists are showcased at RAW!
RAW is an independent arts organization, for artists, by artists. The RAW Directors hand-pick and spotlight local artistic talent in film, fashion, music, visual art, hair & makeup artistry, and performance art.
After a February-October season run, with one show a month, it comes to an exciting end with the indie arts awards show RAWards in Hollywood. But first, there are the local Semi-finals in each of the 54 cities where RAW runs monthly.
After online voting that took place in October, the top 4-5 artists in each category that recieved the most votes will go head to head at the RAWards semifinals and the winner will be deemed the artis...

St. Laurent dropped Yves, and picked up Sarah. Nashville model, Sarah Engelland, that is.
While in a meeting to discuss our sponsorship of the MACS|AMAX Face Of Fall Model Competition, it was mentioned that the agency had a model walk in the St. Laurent show during Paris Fashion Week. So, of course we jumped at the chance to be able to tell this story to you, our wonderful fashion audience.
Photographer: Doug Barry
Around June 2012, Sarah decided to cut her bangs and attended the St. Laurent casting in New York. Apparently, the chop was the right move because after returning to Nashville, she got a call from her casting agent at One Management (while at school having lunch) to attend a second casting in Paris. How cool is that?!

She was origin...

I know, I know...this summer's been a scorcher so it's kinda hard to even think about Fall, but it's just around the corner and you should really start preparing your closets now. Time to kick that wardrobe into gear for the cooler weather and Belk has all the right pieces to put together the 'it' looks of the season.
A seasoned fashion veteran, Arlene Goldstein is Vice President of Trend Merchandising and Fashion Direction for Belk, Inc. With more than 25 years in the industry, her extensive fashion knowledge and keen eye for style has deemed her an expert in the field. She led the presentation that informed us of what is to come this Fall season, so take notes....this lady knows what she's talking about:)
For starters, Arlene advised us that color is still acceptable. That's right...

The elegance, opulence, and lavishness of the occasion is apparent before you even step into Cheekwood mansion. Golden orbs with five rings to celebrate five decades of The Swan Ball were custom designed and made by Big Events Wedding to frame the entrance. The 50th Anniversary of the Swan Ball was a golden affair.
Inside, over 200 hydrangeas, 200 roses, and 700 orchid blooms were used to create this swan sculpture.
The interior design was immaculate and set the stage for the fashion design I was about to indulge in for the rest of the evening. We here at Nashville Fashion Events had the honor of being the FIRST and ONLY fashion blog coverage entity to cover the Swan Ball in its 50 year history. So, the pressure was on but we were ready and excited to jump right in!
I have picke...

Tuesday: One of my favorites from NFW 2011, T. Rains returns. I gushed about his show at NFW 2011 in my last article and was so happy to hear that he was returning! Check out this video of last year's show including an interview with designer, Traver Rains. This year, his show will be joined by special musical guest Shinobi Ninja.
Traver Rains returns with his T. Rains line after last year’s exuberant, eye-popping runway show at the inaugural Nashville Fashion Week. This year, T. Rains will be featured on Tuesday, March 20th at Marathon Music Works. Rains is the former co-creator of the fashion...

Have you heard the exciting news! Nashville Fashion Week 2011 alumnus T. Rains is returning for a second year to NFW 2012 and there are two newbies to this year's roster- Eva Franco & Versace!!!
If you attended Day 2 of last year's NFW, you'll remember sitting in the chilly Arcade, anxiously awaiting the start of the show, as there was a big name showcasing that night-Betsey Johnson! After her collection was shown, there were some who decided that they would leave before seeing the last collection of the night, and boy do I feel sorry for them. Next up, was the incomparable T. Rains. From the moment the first model hit the runway pavement, there were ooohhhs and aaahhhs and jaw drops.
It was evident that although Betsey Johnson was a sensational hit, T. Rains would become the sweeth...

After recuperating from the shock of the announcement that THE Christian Siriano will be headling at Nashville Fashion Week, I was able to pull myself together to receive the newly released roster of Nashville-based designers. All I can say is.... "There's no place like home!"
(By the way, these are not my fabulous shoes. Shoes: Victoria Freeman)
Coquette Swimwear by Brooke Shipley- We met Brooke back in May 2010 at the "Aqua Glam Fashion Show" where she showcased her first collection and she was our very first interview in our 'Meet a Designer' series. She informs us of her time at Parson's School of Design and working with the legendary Manuel. Since then I've had the honor to wear her spectacular swimwear during the nD Festival at the Belcourt Theatre. We can't wait to see what goods...
