As a fashion journalist, I never thought that “classy” and “green fur vest” would belong in the same sentence; however Royal Underground designer Kelly Gray proved me wrong.
Gray partnered with Motley Crue’s Nikki Sixx to create a line she describes as “edgy, sexy, and luxurious." I got an opportunity to view the collection when Gray made a personal appearance at Nordstrom at Green Hills.
I’ll admit, I was a little dubious at first. Designer/rock star clothing collaborations are a dime a dozen these days. But in a sea of celebrity brands, Royal Underground definitely stands out.
During the event, Gray was on hand to style customers while live models showcased an array of Royal Underground looks. My favorite women’s pieces inclu...

“You are no longer in Nashville. You have all been whisked away to Manhattan,” declared Superbowl champion Ben Utecht, MC of the Dillard’s Grand Reopening Celebration held at Green Hills Mall last Tuesday. (We have video at the end of the article)
For a few hours, Nashville was transformed into Bryant Park as models strutted down the runway presenting 62 different looks.
Highlights of the fashion show included bold colorblock looks from BCBG and Calvin Klein...
Neutrals by Ralph Lauren and Daniel Cremieux...
and evening wear by Adrianna Papell, DKNY, and Michael Kors...

This year's Blush Boutique fashion show, held last Friday at Red Rooster, was a night filled with runway glamour and philanthropy. The event was held in association with the Vanderbilt chapter of Alpha Chi Omega to benefit the Bridges Domestic Violence Center. The show was coordinated by Lori Barratt.
Guests and the Blush crew mingled as the night kicked off with a happy hour including Blush inspired cocktails.
The very first look successfully foretold what was to come. It instilled the perfect balance of rural and urban, western and chic. The tastled cardigan might have been one of my favorite pieces.
The theme was even prevalent in the color scheme of the looks. Fierce neutrals and blacks met warm, autumn pastels.
I’m a big fan of the black and go...

Project Runway's season one winner Jay McCarroll visited Macy's at Green Hills this past Saturday as part of the store's "Find Your Magic" event. McCarroll, clad in an all black ensemble accented with tribal jewelry he made himself, shared his fall fashion tips before a crowd of local fashionistas.
photographer:Kristin Sweeting
The event included a runway show featuring pieces from Rachel Roy, Ralph Lauren, Frye, Fossil and and Steve Madden. McCarroll gave his advice on mixing patterns with prints in order to pull off a look he described as "Bill Cosby chic". He also demonstrated how to balance bold autumn reds and oranges with cooler neutrals to create a sophisticated, put-together look appropriate for any age and body type.
Next came a fashion challenge in which audience members were...

I had the most wonderful play date at Woo last week with Stephanie Green Bass and her (PLA) Beauty cosmetic line.
Her extremely affordable and extensive line of lip sticks, glosses, liners, eye shadows, blushes and "Cougar" bronzer completely impressed the "beauty junkie" in me!
I truly felt like a kid in a candy store!
Her foundation, mascara, primer, and concealer left me completely flawless after my make over. In fact, my 7 year old daughter even asked "Where did your wrinkles go Mommy?".
(PLA) Beauty contains paraben free, hypoallergenic products, infused with antibiotics and hydrating properties. It is an eco-friendly line with a heart of gold. Not only are the products safe and effective but they give back to the community.
Inspired by the infinite power ...

Here are my favorite outfits from the fashion show at Local Honey last weekend.
Seth could rock this outfit any day!
I love the color combinations of the blue and red in this outfit. If I were a guy, I would wear this. Who says fashion for guys can't be fun and creative!? There's no excuses anymore guys..
And my favorites from the girls outfits are these lovely pieces:
Black and white always works. I would definitely wear this!
I fell in love, a few weeks ago with these types of pants. I love the loose, relaxed but yet sophisticated feel of these pants. I own one pair, might have to invest in another.. :)
Love the pattern! Love the accessories!
Gotta have those shoes.. A really nicely cut blazer works with almost any outfit. I have invested in a couple...

An Evening With the Stars, a charity event that benefitted philanthropy group Nashville CARES, was a night filled with giving, talent, and great fashion. Nate Washington, the wide receiver for the Tennessee Titans, served as a host as well as ESPN Sportscaster Mike Hill. The event was held at Jazz & Jokes in downtown Nashville and included a musical performance by Shannon Sanders, an art presentation by James Threalkill and Michael McBride, and a live auction. The vast array of arcade games, popcorn machines, and clown-like characters contributed to the overall creative circus theme.
Fashion was also prevalent throughout the night. The former Miss Black Tennessee, LaDonna Boyd, wore a colorful silk dress matched with a red clutch and red satin peep-toe shoes.
Host Mike Hill sported ...

If you haven't noticed, we've been taking a much needed break these past couple of months. The slow season for fashion was upon us and we decided to conserve our energy. We did continue to post events and let people know what was going on but we didn't publish new articles or new video. If you didn't know, Nashville Fashion Events is completely funded by myself and my partner in business and girlfriend, Alicia Boswell. However, it is an expensive endeavor and we are looking for ways to at least get enough capital to expand our operations to cover and do more.
We have explored everything from advertising, sponsorship to directly charging for subscriptions. We came to the conclusion we will do a mix of all three along with some merchandising to support our cause. We will not be doing a...

Summer time is for gathering together under the Nashville skyline and partying. And no one throws a party like a Belcourt party. Consider this your cordial invitation to The Belcourt Theatre nD Festival Launch Party fundraiser Friday, June 24, 6-9 p.m. at Antique Archaeology in Marathon Village.
Launch Party co-chairs Nan Belote and Sarah Souther have put together an exciting event. “We hope the party gives our guests a taste of the full five-day nD Festival, with its vibrant atmosphere and stylish details.” says Belote.
One huge detail is the opening of Antique Archaeology. This store is an antiques and found object store that is being opened by Mike Wolfe of the popular History Channel show American Pickers. Mike will be there to welcome Launch Party Attendees as the first...
