Among the events that kicked off the first day of Nashville Fashion Week was an event held at Green Hills boutique, Roya. Still in its early years as a West Nashville shop, it remains to be one of the city’s best kept secrets. Many customers will admit to keeping it that way to preserve their constant refreshment of unique and exotic additions to their wardrobe. With brands hailing from Turkey and Italy to right here in our own country, there is a variety of styles for every mood or occasion. It’s no wonder why so many would keep this fashion treasure hidden to themselves. We’ve all done that at some point in our lives, am I right? However, last week at their NFW event, Roya opened their doors and invited all Fashion Week goers to see for themselves the abundance of... read more

And.......there you have it! The Lexus Nashville Fashion Week 2012 designer full listing has been confirmed. The names are in and I'm here to break it all down for you.  Tuesday: One of my favorites from NFW 2011, T. Rains returns. I gushed about his show at NFW 2011 in my last article and was so happy to hear that he was returning! Check out this video of last year's show including an interview with designer, Traver Rains. This year, his show will be joined by special musical guest Shinobi Ninja. Traver Rains returns with his T. Rains line after last year’s exuberant, eye-popping runway show at the inaugural Nashville Fashion Week. This year, T. Rains will be featured on Tuesday, March 20th at Marathon Music Works. Rains is the former co-creator of the fashion... read more

With special guest Carrie Underwood, the Nashville Symphony in partnership with Nordstrom and Oscar de la Renta, was truly a night to remember as one of the biggest and best fashion shows in the Southeast. Oscar de la Renta once again took the fashion industry on a journey with his perfectly executed collection for Pre-Fall. His silken silhouettes, sharp contrast black and white herringbone, printed textiles, bold colors, and romantic flowing gowns, reminded us that the elegant, yet laid back Oscar de la Renta, remains one of our favorite designers and an extraordinary one at that. It is no wonder that his fashions have graced First Ladies and celebrity friends, such as Sarah Jessica Parker. The crowd around me was in absolute awe of the smart, bold colors of bright orange and ... read more

Nashville Fashion Week is organized by Creative Co-op Nashville, a volunteer collaboration of fashion, retail, and media professionals who have partnered to combine their resources and passion to create this amazing event. As with any complex-volunteer run event, the success of Nashville Fashion Week relies heavily on the dedication and efforts of the numerous volunteers who dedicate their time and energy to producing a fabulous week of fashion.     (l to r: Mike Smith, Connie Richardson, Robert Campbell, & Marcia Masulla) A few weeks ago, requests for 2012 Nashville Fashion Week volunteers were sent to those who participated ... read more

(All Photos Courtesy of Adrian Morales) The dreamer in me was screaming off the rooftops when I caught a glimpse of Monique Lhuillier’s collection at New York Fashion Week. Romance and dreams came alive as enchanting frock after frock waltzed down the runway.  The visuals were like a sequence out of a period film. The collection shows off her impeccable concept of the female form. Body consciousness was apparent, real, and discovered.  Crimson reds , glistening golds and dramatic silhouettes appeared like clockwork.  Sophisticated draping, and dramatic undulations were shown in a beacon of elegance and grace. Pieces were strong, well thought out, and that most important factor...wearable for the typical women!  My favorite pieces showcased all had her s... read more

The world was saying “hello” instead of “goodbye” when vintage vixens, the Goodbuy Girls, celebrated their 2nd year at their sweet store in East Nash. Guests were welcomed with treats, sparkling champagne, and the style that made the ladies famous. Racks were filled to the gills with chic and eccentric, yet affordable, vintage and contemporary outfits. Goodbuy Girls may be a petite store but don’t let the size fool you. This shop is a little “diamond in the ruff” stocked with unique items that will lasso you back into stylin’ shape. You will find rough and rugged pieces that have stories, and at prices that are out of this world! I came across some real gems like a vintage Burberry coat, Yves Saint Laurent pumps, and an impressive b... read more

Have you heard the exciting news! Nashville Fashion Week 2011 alumnus T. Rains is returning for a second year to NFW 2012 and there are two newbies to this year's roster- Eva Franco & Versace!!! If you attended Day 2 of last year's NFW, you'll remember sitting in the chilly Arcade, anxiously awaiting the start of the show, as there was a big name showcasing that night-Betsey Johnson! After her collection was shown, there were some who decided that they would leave before seeing the last collection of the night, and boy do I feel sorry for them. Next up, was the incomparable T. Rains. From the moment the first model hit the runway pavement, there were ooohhhs and aaahhhs and jaw drops. It was evident that although Betsey Johnson was a sensational hit, T. Rains would become the sweeth... read more

At 'A Fashion Affair, 2012' the Jamison Hall in Franklin was transformed into a 'Dancing With The Stars' phenomenon. The spirits and food tastings were flowing, the live and silent auctions were filled with fabulous styles and the entertainment was remarkable as the guests relaxed at their beautiful tables by the runway. Ralph Drury, AVA Founder, Ashley Roberts, Managing Director, Stephanie Beck Williams and all of the 2012 Board members did an excellent job of organizing the right people to transform the room into a unique style of feminine glamour for the event. (l to r: Stephanie Beck Williams, Ralph Drury, Ashley Roberts) And of course, it was a charity to remember, due to Ms. Darrah Helen Meeley's vision of featuring Emmy Award winning Designer, RANDALL CHRISTENSEN and his fabulou... read more

Stepping into Roya on a cold winter evening, I instantly felt that I had just walked into a friend’s warm home. The store is simply but stylishly designed, consisting of uncluttered, clean lines and elegant accents. It is no wonder that the décor is so warm and inviting: Heshmat Eslami, the owner, went to design school. Now she and her business partner, Mahnaz Mohsenin, have created a unique shopping experience where every fashionista can get quality and luxury at an affordable price.  Growing up, Eslami travelled back and forth from Nashville to her native Iran and fell in love with European fashion. She saw how Iranian women were always very well dressed and put together. Even now, with the restrictions on women’s dress styles, Eslami says that the women ... read more

Andy Hilfiger visited Macy’s of Green Hills Sunday to promote Andrew Charles, a new clothing line inspired by rock legend Steven Tyler. Tyler is the face of the brand, while Hilfiger serves as creative director. Hilfiger said he aimed to launch a collection that blended music and fashion. During the event, shoppers were treated to a performance by Brooklyn indie rockers The Click Clack Boom. After playing a few originals, the band was joined by Hilfiger himself for an energetic set of cover songs, ending with The Ramones’ “I Wanna Be Sedated”. After his musical performance, Hilfiger mingled with customers and helped them mix and match Andrew Charles pieces to create edgy looks he described as “rocker chic”. The moderately priced line, dominat... read more
